Silent play
Non-verbal play with as little as possible of dialogue
The performance was adapted from the Diary of Anne, a diary written by Anne Frank, a real person during World War II. It is a symbolic scene of the frustrating situation of the time when they lived in hide away from the Nazis, and expresses the inside of the characters in the form of a non-verbal.
It allows the audience to accept the situation as it is, rather than forcing the situation to become stereotyped by dialogue.
The performance will be newly reconstructed in the imagination of the audience, and will be the stage where lingering is left in the heart.

A play exploring the legacy of master Gong Ok-jin and her solo-performance Byeongsin chum in addition to traditional pansori In the Spring Festival 1st Street Hyehwa-dong in 2014, Director Hansol Yoon and the greenpig theater collective presented The way of storytelling, the way of singing–demo version. The play explored the intersection between the traditional and the modern by reinterpreting pansori, a Korean traditional one-person vocal art form. The work was invited to the TPAM-Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama and was staged at the Kanagawa Arts Theatre (KKAT) Middle Studio in 2016. In 2018, greenpig is back with a new work, The way of storytelling, the way of dancing–Byeongsin chum. It is greenpig’s second work where they reinterpret Changmu-kug, the Korean traditional dancing and singing solo-performance, from a new perspective, through a collaboration with Gong Ok-jin, a master of Byeongsin chum (meaning “dance of the cripple”).
Hansol Yoon (b. 1972) studied sociology and theater in Seoul and received his master‘s degree in theater direction from Columbia University in New York. Founded the theater collective greenpig in 2006, producing series of contemporary theatrical works dealing with such themes as immigration, contemporary history and modern Korean artists. In November 2017, HOTPOT had its first initiation in Hong Kong and the second event will be held in Seoul, South Korea during the SIDance period in October 2018. Yokohama Dance Collection is preparing the third HOTPOT event in 2020. With its first successful initiation of the event last year, HOTPOT is positioning itself as the most representative dance platform in Asia where regional dancers can enhance their ability to step into the international stages and expand their opportunities for sustained and systematic global activities. Moving beyond the exchanges among three East Asian countries, HOTPOT will be a promising dance platform to promote active international exchanges with other regions in the world.

“A game for oblivion in illusion, the mad party begins”
There are ups and downs, haunting beats and folk rhythms, the bodies take all the music that is given to them in grazing, they only have this energy of rescue, the pleasure believed like buoy of survival, there is neither hell nor heaven nor escape possible. <TOYS> is the morning with a hangover. It is the game, the absolute, the disguise of tragedy behind the constant of celebration. Léa Tirabasso deftly fashions a window onto humanity, a tribe fundamentally ill at ease with itself. <TOYS> is absorbing and exhausting show to watch.
TanztheatreOnes <BeUNDO DoUNBE>
“A discourse of four dancers, exploring between latency and revelation”
TanztheatreOnes is a group of experienced choreographers, writers, musicians and visual artists and they are collaborating to realize their artistic ideas in a common frame. Its members are given as much freedom as required to realize their imagination and experiment with various multi-genre works. In this show, they research the two characteristics of body mobility - being and doing - phenomenon. It explores the state and change of movement that these two attributes repeatedly overlap and transition in the space. It also focuses on expressing the complexity by influencing and affecting the alteration of the tone according to the live performance.

The Korean culture expressed in Yun's writing is found in choreographic writing, largely inspired by rhythms and traditional sounds. It is full of great restraint of the gesture in solo, duo, with three or four dancers. Like a black hole in space, it is powered by with a great energy that leads to big explosions.

“Truth-seeker on the stage, Return by the grace of healing”
Sin Cha Hong, a best-selling author, vocalist, avant-garde dancer who exposed the presence of Korean modern dance in New York art scene. One day, she disappeared and went on her own spiritual journey. She was trained by some Indian teachers including Osho Rajneesh and one day, she woke up in the morning from the field and felt joy as if her whole body was reborn. This piece describes the journey of her spirit; the journey that she was reborn with joy and freedom after knowing the misperception of an image in the mirror as if it was her own reflection. The maestro artist Yonggu Park commented that “Korean Modern dance can be defined by the time of Korean traditional court dance, Seung-hee Choi, Sin Cha Hong.” In commemoration of the 45th anniversary of her debut, she will be on the stage in Seoul after a long while, and she meets her fans with more relaxed mind. Sin Cha Hong said that we need to put everything down and empty ourselves to see a new light.

Opera-The Marriage of Figaro in Yard Play |
Art is Potato |
10.12(Fri)-14(Sun) |
Sowol Arts Hall |
Mozart's opera "Le Noze di Figaro" was reinterpreted to change the 18th century's European identity system to feudalism and reproduce it in the form of a traditional satire, a Madang Nori, which is performed in the yard.
In addition to the comical houses and walls that distorted the form as in the folk paintings of the Joseon Dynasty, the subtitles of humorous expressions that help understand the original Korean language play are arranged as an element of the stage device. The subtitle reminiscent of the Korean traditional polar music, Pansori (an editorial that weaves together without interrupting the middle of a Pansori Pane), plays a central role in presenting and reinforcing the background and theme of the play.
It was selected as a project to support the resident group in the Seoul Culture Foundation in 2018. The concept of the theater opened to anyone who is the basic spirit of Madang Nori. It means that the limited cultural background of the original opera is shared more closely with all of us living here today.
Number of performers: 10 actors (vocals), 6 instruments (composition of chamber music including piano)
Synopsis: The Count uses his divine authority to impose a secret love on his servants. Susanna and Figaro, the servants, use various tricks with Countess to punish him for his hypocritical and arrogant behavior and receive sincere apologies.

Impulse is a performance that fully incorporates the Momggol’s artistic languages-objet and body movement. Momggol takes notice of the ceaseless movement of a hemisphere like a roly poly as well as the motility of a ladder, focusing on their physical properties and movements with action and reaction. The hemisphere keeps moving through exchanges of energy with people standing on it. The balance and tension that come out of the movements of the body and the ladder/hemisphere is the focus of the audience attention. The life holding out only through ceaseless rocking to which unswerving body movements are attuned is shown.

2F Seoul Art Space Mullae (Box theater) |
<Let’s take a bath> discusses on female body. The book is based on interviews of women of various age groups and careers, and the show combines the form of ‘Jindo Ssitkkimgut‘ and bathing.
As a woman, I throw the question “How are we living?”
There is a saying that something personal is something social. How about we take a look into the history of our bodies and our time through personal stories of various women? One’s body carries its history. We study ourselves through observing our bodies. Instead of projecting a female figure forced by the society, I question the audience through an act of showing one’s individual beauty.
Through <Let’s take a bath>, I wish to take a deep look into myself and affirm the woman in me as she is while throwing a question on life.

The Main Gugak Opera Performance of the National Gugak Center
Back after Six Years, Marking the 600th Anniversary of King Sejong’s Reign
Revel in the story of how Hangeul was created by King Sejong the Great, lifting the illiterate common folk out of ignorance.
Folk songs point the way!
Sejong pondered long and hard on how to design the new characters. Struggling with his own failing eyesight, he came to realize that the writing of the people should come from their songs. King Sejong sought out the best folk singers in the fields and the streets, gaining inspiration for the new letter system from the folk songs they sang to him.
