Synopsis

Music 'exists' or 'doesn't exist' through 'moments.' On the border of existence,
music is regarded as 'existing' only when it communicates and breathes with the audience.
Our music expresses such processes and moments of verifying existence.
In an attempt to present musical colors and images that are completely different
from those of our existing works, we are willing to go beyond our musical limits
by diversifying techniques and developing new ones.

DUO BUD

Comprised of the 2018 WOMEX Official Showcase selected percussionist Sora Kim and
string player Jihye Lim who is well recognized for her lyrical music full of sensibility,
DUO BUD reinterprets nature and the universe, main motives of Korean folk music,
with their explosive energy of percussion and the delicate melodies of string instruments
expanding the potential of instruments and the traditional genre. Their music communicates with
the contemporary as it eliminates the boundaries of the traditional music structure and instruments and
embraces elements from other music genres such as jazz and rock. On the other hand, they preserve
the intrinsic style and beauty of Korean folk music. Their professional debut was made after winning
the first place (KB Sori Award) at the 2015 Jeonju International Sori Festival. Since then,
DUO BUD has been musically active worldwide, playing at world-renowned music festivals and
theaters: Babel Med Music in France, Golden Melody Awards, National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts,
Pingtung Performing Arts Center in Taiwan, Okarina Festival in Slovenia and Ritmo Festival in Hungary.
They also performed in Chicago, New York, Mexico and Cuba.
